Enterprise
Autonomous Underwater Surveillance Vessel for Maritime Security
Enterprise is a high-tech Autonomous Underwater Surveillance Vessel (vehicle). Its function is to carry out underwater surveillance to seek out potential security threats to provide the following: -
- Intelligence for control & command;
- Identification of potential risk;
- Interception of intruders;
- Inspection of assets.

Typical Deployment:
- Harbour Protection;
- Border Security;
- Gas & Oil Pipeline Security;
- Mine Field Survey;
- Ships Hull Survey.
System Description
Enterprise can be used in a wide range of applications, providing high level intelligence back to the control & command centre. The system can be deployed from either a harbour or from the side of a boat.
Enterprise is completely autonomous, and is fitted with a high definition forward looking sonar, a CCTV camera and a high powered spot light. Navigation of the Enterprise can be carried out in one of two methods: -
- Pre plotted programmed route;
- Direction heading operated by control & command.
The pre plotted programmed route method of navigation would be used in applications such as pipeline monitoring, where the route is always the same and the co-ordinates are known. Direction heading operated by control & command would be used in all other applications at the discretion of the operators.
Enterprise is available in two versions:
- Enterprise1 – Provides 3 – 5 Hours of operation without recharge;
- Enterprise2 – Provides 16 – 20 Hour of operation without recharge.
The difference between the two systems is in the battery technology. Enterprise1 utilises standard GEL rechargeable battery technology, Enterprise2 uses a classified battery technology that produces up to 4 time’s greater operation duration than Enterprise1.
Enterprise power supplies require recharging when levels are low. Battery change is simple. Front and rear sections of the Enterprise are removed so as to provide access to the centre section (where the battery sets are housed).
Sonar – Features
- Detection of divers, swimmers and swimmer delivery vehicles (SDV) in automatic and manual modes;
- Automatic target tracking;
- Depth classification of detected targets;
- Determination of target data like bearing, range, course, depth, speed, aspect angle, length and level;
- Display of processed detection and classification echoes together or alternative to acoustic ”raw” data;
- Display of tactical information on the surveillance display with graphical picture of the protected area, sector coverage of the sonar head, target markers, track symbols, track history.
Operation
The system is working fully automatically, after detection of a target based on the continuous measurement of the ambient noise/reverberation and automatic threshold setting, the detection, tracking, classification, and depth functions are initialised without operator inputs.

- Range accuracy on display (R=400 m, T=-10 dB, Scale= 00 m)<= ± 1%.
CCTV – Features
- Image Sensor – 1/3" Colour Sony CCD;
- Resolution – Horizontal 460 TV-Line;
- Output Signal – 1.0Vp-p (Sync. Negative);
- Minimum Illumination – 1Lux / F1.2;
- Gain Control – Automatic;
- Lens – Fixed 4mm Auto Iris.
Spot Light – Features
- High Powered Halogen Spot Light.
Transmission

Transmission distance has no limits (if required). In cases where long range transmission is required, repeater modules carry the signal accordingly.
All information is transmitted back to the control and command centre via wireless LAN where the operators are able to actually see visual images. Enterprise is fitted with headlights, which provides illumination for the onboard CCTV camera.
