Scramasax Permanent Underground Barrier

Originally designed for the Ministry of Defence in the 1970s, for the protection of military and civil sites from intrusion by unauthorised vehicles ranging from a Mini to a 10 ton truck.

Designed to bring a suspect vehicle to a halt by the destruction of its tyres, the barrier is designed as a drop-in module into a prepared trench in the road. The barrier is operated by an electric motor and the destructive blades, when activated, protrude through an unobtrusive grille. Blades are available to destroy 'run flat' tyres.

A discretionary sensor device, fitted ahead of the barrier, can automatically discern whether a vehicle is friendly or alien and operate the barrier accordingly.

Other features

  • Extremely cost-effective;
  • Can be operated in conjunction with a pole barrier and/or card reader;
  • Blades are available to destroy 'run flat' tyres.
