The WG5 Bomb Disposal Suit provides state-of-the-art
protection using the best available ballistic materials. The WG5 provides the highest level of protection on the market, whilst maintaining comfort and mobility for the user.
The WG5 features ballistic inserts made of multi-layered Kevlar® fibre, which is proven to be heat-resistant and five times as strong as steel, yet lighter than fibreglass. The ballistic inserts are encased in a water- resistant and anti-ultra violet membrane to protect against UV degradation. The suit is constructed of Normex®, which is an aramid synthetic fibre used for its superior heat resistance.
WG5 Bomb Disposal Suit Includes:

Jacket
The long-sleeved jacket features a side-opening
design and flexible Kevlar armour. It is designed for quick removal by way of a pull strap attached to the collar and a toggle strap attached to the shoulder and side. Simultaneously pulling both straps opens the jacket. Once open, the weight of the jacket causes the jacket to fall from the body. The jacket is constructed of strong Nomax III cotton using double-seams and is reinforced at stress points. Other features include:
- Blast plates for protect the breast and groin areas;
- Tool pockets on front and back sides;
- Radio pouches on the back side;
- Ballistic wing pads to cover gaps created by arm movement.
Air Blower Fan Unit
The air blower is attached at the lower backside of the jacket by means of a Velcro® and press-stud fastened panel. The fan unit consists of:
- Fan with replaceable filters;
- Rechargeable battery pack and charger;
- Air pipe which connects the fan to the helmet.
The battery pack provides up to six hours of continuous use and is easily re-charged using the charger provided.
Trousers
The trousers are designed to provide maximum protection and fit without compromising mobility:
- Fully-adjustable waistband and braces accommodate all sizes;
- Heavy-duty back-zip closure of legs for ease of dressing;
- Adjustable Velcro leg straps provide a close fit;
- Articulated knee area for ease of movement;
- Essential boot covers which are held in place by webbed Velcro straps.
Helmet
The helmet is capable of withstanding ballistic fragmentation travelling at 600m/s, which exceeds the demands of most users. Features include:
- Complete protection of the head, including face, neck and chin;
- A three-point suspension harness with chin cup holds the helmet securely in place;
- Polyurethane (PU) foam lining for comfort, and protection against shock;
- Removable visor is made of heat-resistant thermoplastic with a protection level of 680 m/s and provides excellent visibility;
- Air delivery system prevents visor from fogging-up without causing irritation to the eyes.
