The Westminster Guardian is a new UHF lone worker monitoring solution capable of providing automatic signalling of a lone worker in distress or in a 'man down' situation.
Employers are responsible for ensuring the safety of their staff at all times. Westminster can offer a worker safety programme that is simple and inexpensive yet gives you and your staff valuable peace of mind.
More and more employees today are required to operate in a 'lone worker' environment for either part or all of their working day and may be exposed to numerous hazards to their safety and well-being - Accidents, Attack, Medical Problems, Injury, Fire, Flood etc.
Transmitters
The Guardian lone worker transmitter unit is supplied complete with desk top charger; power supply and belt carry case.
Using a minimal configuration, the unit can be deployed with a single matched pager that will alert a colleague to an alarm situation. Multiple signalling options on the unit offer the user four discrete functions:
- Top side button: sends an "ASSIST" lone worker message
- Bottom side button: sends a "CANCEL" lone worker message
- Both side buttons: sends an "ALARM" lone worker message
- Lanyard removal: sends a "DURESS" lone worker message
Nominal range (subject to topography): 1 km;
Typical battery life between charges: >1 week.
Modes of operation:
The transmitter has 3 manual call types, and 2 automatic alarms. The first automatic function consist of a captive pin that when withdrawn sends a "DURESS" message to the pager(s). The second automatic function will send a "DURESS" message when the wearer's movement has ceased for more than 20 seconds. Whilst the manual button initiated alarms are always active, both the captive pin and the movement detector functions can be enabled or disabled.
The LCD display will indicate which mode is active at any time. The mode can be changed by using the increment, decrement programming keys on the top of the transmitter. The keys must be pressed and held for a number of seconds between each change, this is to prevent accidentally changing the active mode.
Mode 1 - Manual alarms only:
The top side button will send an "ASSIST" message to the pager together with slow audible beep. The lower side button sends a "CANCEL" message to the pager together with a double audible beep. Pressing both buttons together and holding them for the trigger period will send an "ALARM" message to the pager together with a triple audible beep.
Mode 2 - Manual alarms and active detachable pin:
The pin in the base of the unit is for connection to a lanyard attached to the wearer. If the transmitter is pulled away from the wearer, an automatic transmission is initiated that sends a "DURESS" message to the pager together with a rapid audible beep. These transmissions will be repeated every 3 seconds until the pin is replaced.
Mode 3 - All alarms active:
This mode enables all functions, manual alarms, captive pin and movement detector. The movement detector has two time periods over which any movement detected will reset the timers. If the unit detects no movement for 20 seconds it will pulse a sounder for 10 seconds as a warning before transmitting a "DURESS" message. Any movement detected during these warning periods will reset the timers.
Receivers
Display Pager
The Display Pager lone worker receiver allows for a stand alone one-to-one solution that will alert a colleague to an alarm or duress situation. The pager is a simple and discrete unit which can be 'belt worn' or carried in a pocket and allows complete flexibility for co-worker protection in a lone worker environment. The unit is capable of both tone and vibrate alert.
Another advantage of the pager receiver is that, as it is portable, it can be moved from location to location and lodged with a responsible minder, receptionist, etc, at any given site.
Display Pager Kit
The Display Pager Kit consists of:
- The Guardian Lone Worker Transmitter with desk-top charger and mains power supply;
- Belt carry case;
- Display pager with holster clip and bungee cord;
- Single AAA alkaline battery for pager.
Non-supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver
The Non-supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver utilises a 12 volt DC powered receiver unit for connection to a suitable existing power source. The unit has four programmable output relays for connection to an external alarm or signalling device. Pagers can also be utilised to operate in conjunction with the fixed receiver.
Non-supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver Kit
The Non-supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver kit consists of:
- The Guardian lone worker transmitter with desk-top charger and mains power supply;
- Belt carry case;
- 12 volt DC wall mounted non-supervised receiver in ABS enclosure;
- Stub quarter wave aerial.
Supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver
The Supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver utilises a mains powered receiver with the added benefit of supervision - the loss of signal verification transmissions from the transmitter initiates a fault condition. The unit also has the ability to monitor two lone worker handsets providing full addressability of all functions on both transmitters across eight zones, each having a dedicated relay output or, up to eight transmitters with a single alarm relay dedicated to each transmitter. A common alarm and common fault relay are also provided.
Supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver Kit
The Supervised Fixed Lone Worker Receiver kit consists of:
- The Guardian Lone Worker transmitter with desk-top charger and mains power supply;
- Belt carry case;
- Wall mounted supervised receiver with mains power supply and sealed lead acid battery backup;
- Stub quarter wave aerial.
Receiver Aerials
A range of aerial types are available with the above receivers to cater for all possible lone worker monitoring applications. The range includes a BNC terminated quarter wave helical (included with all kits unless alternative is requested); a lightweight half wave dipole for internal use complete with 3 metre feeder which is BNC terminated; a heavy duty half wave folded dipole with wall mount bracket for external use complete with low loss feeder again BNC terminated; and finally, a three element Yagi array which will require appropriate mounting clamp(s) and low loss feeder.
Aerials Available:
Lightweight half wave dipole- Heavyweight folded dipole with bracket
- Yagi array
- 5m Feeder RG58 - BNC terminated
- 10m Feeder RG213 - BNC terminated
- 15m Feeder RG213 - BNC terminated
Remote Monitoring
A range of remote monitoring devices are available which can be connected to either of the two fixed receiver options above in order to remotely transmit a lone working alarm to a manager, supervisor, co-worker or call centre, etc.
Systems available include auto dialling and message devices and digital communication systems either of which can operate with normal telephone lines or GSM networks etc.
