Westminster's Type 3 Doorset is a solid steel system designed to withstand a high-level of abuse. Recommended for areas where light is not normally required.

ApplicationsType 3 doorset

  • Factories;
  • Bin Stores;
  • Electrical Cupboards;
  • Secure Storerooms;
  • Emergency Exits;
  • Remote Outstations.

The Type 3 Doorset is comprised of mild steel profiles and a solid-composite core encased in steel plating.

Technical Specification

Door leaf manufacture

The stiles and transoms are made of cold drawn steel (60 x 40mm and 2mm thick) hollow profiles. These are mitred and welded together, with all welds dressed smooth. The profile has a flange of 20mm. The welded central panel is comprised of a timber composite core encased in steel.
Door Frame
The frame is manufactured from an 80 x 60mm rectangular hollow section. The corners are mitred, welded and ground smooth.

Thresh

A mild steel flat bar thresh is fitted for exterior uses. A range of raised threshes are also available depending on site requirements.

Hinges

Maintenance-free 200mm welded barrel hinges are encased in nylon which provides smooth door operation. No oiling is required.

Hinge Bolts

The hinge-side of the door can be fitted with hinge bolts which prevent the door from opening in the event that the hinges are ground off.

Anti-Jemmy Device

An anti-jemmy device can be fitted on the locking side to prevent a levering device from getting between the frame and the lip of the door.

Viewing Panels

Viewing panels can be fitted to suit requirements using most glass types and thicknesses.

Locking

Most types of locking systems can be fitted to the Type 3 Doorset. Examples include:

  • ASSA modular locking systems;
  • Electomagnetic locking for controlled entry;
  • Chubb 5 lever locks;
  • Panic hardware.

A high performance anti-corrosive zinc rich primer is applied to the metal and finished with a polyester powder coating. The above range is available in a textured finish and other colours and finishes are available on request.

Door Closers

LCN door closers are preferred, but most types of door closers can be fitted.

Extra Security Measures

A 2mm or 4mm steel plate can be fitted inside the core of the door to give extra strength to the door and loose steel plates can be fitted into the hollow profiles to make cutting hazardous.
