The Westminster Pipeline Protection System (WPPS) is designed to protect gas, oil and liquid pipelines and other utility pipeline distribution networks by providing an early warning of an attack so that damage can be prevented or minimised.
The Westminster Buried Pipeline Leak Detection System (WBPLDS) is designed work in conjunction with the WPPS system to detect leaks in buried pipelines and alert the operators instantly.
If a pipeline is damaged significant revenues will be lost, damage may also be caused to the local environment and the leakage could be a potential danger to the local population. More importantly a terrorist attack on an unprotected utility pipeline could have catastrophic consequences.
The Westminster combined WPPS & WBPLDS is an entirely new advanced early warning system for the detection of third party interference (TPI) tampering and illegal tapping attempts and locating leaks in buried oil, gas and liquid pipelines.
The system will detect third party interference down to 10 metres (or better) and leaks down to 1 metre along buried pipelines up to 30km long. Multiple controllers can be networked to monitor longer pipelines.
The entire length of each pipeline is monitored in real-time and with complete safety;- A particular advantage is its inherent ability to provide very early warning of each of the above and hence an opportunity for the operator to take preventative actions;
- The system will detect and locate an intrusion to within 50 metres regardless of the overall pipeline length;
- The system will detect and locate a leak to within 1 metre regardless of the overall pipeline length;

The combined WPPS & WBPLDS works equally well in soil, sand, clay and gravel it is not subject to performance fluctuations as a result of normal temperature or weather changes.
It is entirely safe and not affected by electrical and EMI issues; it works on non-destructive principles and does not require the cable to be damaged before an event is detected.
It can pin-point the location of a third party disturbances to ±10m resolution, irrespective of cable length, it also offers the ability to simultaneously monitor the integrity and security of communications traffic along the same cable.
The system will detect leaks within a 10 second measurement time often before environmental damage or safety incident has occurred. The leak can be located to within metres, minimising any excavation and repair costs together with overall down time.
Costly inspection patrol programs may also be significantly reduced with the system monitoring the pipeline 7/24/365.
