The WG RP Portable Rail UVIS System is designed to be positioned between the rails to image the underside of trains, and other railway rolling stock, as they pass over the survey unit.
The system is portable, allowing the unit to be moved to alternate locations as required; alternatively, the fixed variant is available that can be built into the track bed at strategic points.
It consists of four elements; the Survey Unit (SU), the Rail Lighting Unit (RLU), the Control Unit (CU) and the Connecting Cable (CC), based on modular components.
The five cameras in the survey unit are aligned to provide overlapping fields of view, providing a ‘see-around’ capability as the cameras image either side of features on the vehicle underside as it passes over the survey unit.
The control unit is built in a 3U 19” rack unit and includes a high specification PC, running Windows 10, loaded with Rail imaging and analysis software.
Prior to use, the user should always confirm that the installation meets all local rail and other codes and legislative requirements.
